I’m Leah Eustace, ACFRE, and I’m the Founder and Chief Problem Solver at Blue Canoe. My vision is to be your fundraising and communications expert, coach, and problem-solver.
For 25 years, I’ve worked for or with charities to help tell powerful stories through direct marketing, cases for support, legacy giving and social media. I have a particular interest, and extensive experience, in strategic planning and ‘looking under the hood’ of fundraising programs to help tune up revenue-generation activities, and reach heights in terms of revenue-generation and relationships with donors.
My volunteer work is extensive. I sit on the Executive Committee of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), an international association with 33,000 members around the world, and I am Chair of the AFP Foundation for Philanthropy—Canada, and a Past-President of the AFP Ottawa Chapter. I’m also heavily involved in AFP’s efforts in the area of diversity and inclusion in philanthropy, and I was instrumental in securing over $700,000 in grants to support diversity initiatives in Ontario.
I have spent the past 12 years as Principal and Chief Idea Goddess at Good Works. Before that, I was Director of Development with the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society, Corporate Development Director at the Aga Khan Foundation, and Development Director of the Canada-U.S Fulbright Program. I have also volunteered with local organizations like the United Way of Ottawa, Causeway Foundation and The Door.
In 2014, I was very proud to become the 101st person in the world to receive the ACFRE accreditation (and only the 8th in Canada). I was also honoured to accept the 2014 AFP Ottawa Chapter Outstanding Fundraising Executive Award.
